Katy's Challenge: 13th - 20th November

Sketch challenge time again this week, and a particularly tricky one at that! The sketch this week consists of two hexagons, a theme that seems to be cropping up in some of the daily sketches as well, with some background detail behind them. I decided to make a male card for a change, utilizing my new Wellington Ultimate Die-Cut pack and some old scraps of paper that I found lying around that happened to have a co-ordinating ribbon set!

I shaped the die-cut image into a hexagon by hand (as it seems to be one of the few shapes that my mum doesn't have a die for!) and then double-mounted the image onto red followed by gold. The smaller hexagon is a simple sheet of the Bookprint paper which I've inked with chestnut ink to add a little dimension before double-mounting onto navy blue and then gold. The message tag is one of the self-adhesive ones from the Ultimate Die-Cut pack, as are the letters down the left hand side of the card. To finish, I added gold gem and a little flag shaped piece of paper to fill that fiddly little gap in the top corner!

Katy's Challenge: 6th - 13th November

Another week, another challenge! This time the image was a series of red berries in the shape of a love heart on a snowy background. I chose to use the colour scheme as my inspiration and found a box that my dad had received a gift in that I decided to convert into a gift box (saves it going to waste!). I first covered the cardboard box in a layer of white card so that it was easier to attach my decorative papers.

I then cut some silver Mirri card and mounted it behind different papers from the "Home For Christmas" paper pack from Papermania. Using the X-Cut Heart Nesting Dies I made a small love heart from red shimmer card for the top of the box, incorporating a festive message into the center. To complete, I added red and silver heart gems in each corner of the sides of the box and tied a silver and white ribbon around the center.

Get Well Soon card number two!

Another get well soon card as another of my friends has just had surgery, tonsil removal this time! Can't for the life of me remember what this paper pack is called but I absolutely love it, the designs are so bold and funky and the paper is double sided with the co-ordinating colours on the back. The bunting is embossed with one of my mum's new embossing folders that she got from the craft show at the SECC and the message is hand written in purple ink with yellow brad embellishments.

To finish, I punched some various sized flowers from co-ordinating coloured cardstock and embellished with gold gems. I love the colours on this paper, so bright and refreshing!

Tatty Ted Get Well Soon Card

One of my close friends is going into hospital today to get her wisdom teeth out (ouch!) so I made her a get well soon card over the weekend. She loves Tatty Ted so I made use of one of the images from the Tatty Ted "Especially for You" Ultimate Die-Cut pack, which I mounted on pale pink card and embellished with lilac gems. The background is some simple lilac cardstock with one of the lilac and pink floral papers from the Boofle 12 x 12 paper pack.

To finish, I added Papermania Capsule Collection Boysenberry lettering and some simple die cut pink flowers with cerise pink stitching and blue gem centers. Hopefully it will cheer my friend up after her op!
