Tiger Pencil Sketch

Needed a wee bit of a break from writing up a bioassay report this afternoon and I re-discovered a sketch that I started a while back and never got around to finishing. It gave me a nice distraction for a bit and I got both things finished this afternoon so all is well! Here's the finished result:

Anyway, I'd better get back to writing up my forensics notes now...the joys of being a uni student! Happy crafting all :)

Creativity Club Sketch #331 Cards

Here's a couple of square cards that I made based on Creativity Club Daily Sketch #331. The first one I made using the new Home To Nest Ultimate Die-Cut pack from Papermania. I chose one of the small square images and mounted it off-center on a square of Kraft card. For the background I used the bird patterned paper, which I inked around the edges in chestnut and mounted onto Kraft card before attaching to the card blank. The sketch has a horizontal and vertical line across it so I used the egg patterned paper with a little bit of Kraft card behind.

I punched individual birds from the same paper I used in the background using a circular punch and mounted them onto Kraft card. To complete I added a message banner from the die-cut pack and some gold glitter glue around the edge of each embellishment. For my second card I used the Wellington Ultimate Die-Cut Pack and followed the same sketch layout as the Home To Nest card.

The pack contains small circular elements that are pre-cut so I just mounted three of these onto gold Mirri card and then onto Kraft card. To complement the gold in the circular elements I used gold brads to attach the message banner to Kraft card, some gold gems in the corners of the teddy image and some gold glitter glue as before.

Vintage Notes Cards

I discovered a 6 x 6" pack of the Vintage Notes paper last week that I didn't even know we had, which just proves that my mum and I clearly have too much craft stuff! I used a couple of the Docrafts Creativity Club sketches again for these cards. For this first one I layered up four different papers, stamping a best wishes greeting onto one of the more subtle patterned papers. I chose a beige button from the Vintage Notes button bag and threaded it onto some pale pink ribbon to tie in with my background paper. To complete the card I made some pink roses using the Spellbinders Bitty Blossom dies, added some pink pearl gems and some brown faux stitching.

I re-arranged the sketch a little bit for my second card and added a scalloped circle element to tie in with the background paper. I then embellished round the circle with gold gems to co-ordinate with the gold Mirri card that I mounted each of the papers on.

Finally I added pale pink and blue gems to the corners of each rectangle of papers, a greeting banner with pink brads and some hand-cut love hearts from the embellishments page in the paper pack.

More Forever Friends

Anyone would think I quite liked the Kraft Notes range! Here's another two cards that I made in combination with the Docrafts Creativity Club Sketches. I liked the quirky angles and shapes on this first sketch so I went with a slightly more adventurous colour scheme. The background papers are from Craftwork Cards but they matched quite nicely with the dotty background of the Forever Friends image (which I double mounted on dark purple and lime green to tie in with the colour scheme). I kept the embellishments simple by adding a circular message tag, purple & gold Candi and black faux stitching.

For my second card I kept to the Kraft Notes range, going for a lime green spotty paper in the background and the button flower paper to tie in with the buttons on the greetings die-cut. I went for gold and pink double mounting behind the image this time to give the card a bit of a colour injection! I punched some flowers out of a gold and cream paper that came from an old Forever Friends "Black and Gold" pack and layered them up with smaller flowers and buttons.

To complete I added a co-ordinating purple butterfly, gold gems and some pink spotty buttons to the top corner. That's all for today as I've just received a parcel of crafting goodies from Craftwork Cards...which is technically my mum's but I'm sure she won't mind me taking a peek!!!

Forever Friends Sketch Challenge Cards

Finally finished all my exams for this year so I'm back to crafting! Here are some cards that I made using the docrafts Creativity Club daily sketches and the Forever Friends Kraft Notes range...

For this first card I combined one of the die-cuts from the Kraft Notes Ultimate Die-Cut Pack and the Papermania Pastel Capsule Collection papers. I added some detail with buttons, some purple Candi and purple and white twine.

Again, I used a couple of the die-cuts for this card in combination with some punched flowers which I inked at the edges and embellished with clear gems. To complete I added some gems to the corners of the teddy image and some purple Candi.

This is my favorite sketch of the ones I did because I like how the quirky angles and shapes all complement each other. This time I used die-cuts with co-ordinating backgrounds and worked in the colours of the other papers in the range. To complete, I added some pink self-adhesive gems to the top and bottom corners.

For my final card I combined the Papermania Pastel Capsule Collection and the Kraft Notes ranges again. The spotty background paper is quite bold so I inked the edges of the Kraft Notes paper to give a bit more definition before I layered them us behind my chosen image. To complete I added one of the die-cut greetings and some green buttons.

Button Box

I'm just going to take a break from exam revision to update you with my latest project from the weekend! My mum bought the awesome new Capsule Collection Brights mixed bag of buttons and so I decided to decorate one of the Bare Basics boxes to give us a place to store them.

First I covered the lid with pink cardstock and then the button patterned paper from the Forever Friends Kraft Notes range. I used a pale blue piece of cardstock for the message banner, adding Birdsong self-adhesive lettering and a pale pink button that I stitched into place with beige thread. After attaching the message banner to the top of the box, I riffled through my collection of buttons (mostly Capsule Collection, Vintage Notes and Boofle!) and found some blue, brown, cream and pink buttons that tied in with the colours in the papers. I decorated the sides of the box with blue and pink cardstock and the floral paper from the Kraft Notes range. To complete, I added some pale pink ribbon and the button patterned ribbon from the Kraft Notes range around the edge of the box lid. Here's a closer view of the detail on the lid...

Dolly Mixtures Cards - Coleen and Cheryl

LOVE the new Craftwork Cards "Dolly Mixtures" papers!!! My mum got both the Coleen and Cheryl packs and I just had to try them out. I have to admit the Coleen papers are my favorite, the wee Scottie dogs are adorable! I used the dog patterned paper for my first card, mounting it onto some pink card and then a 5 x 5" card blank.  I remembered there was a doggie stencil from Craftwork Cards so I used it to cut a black dog to match the background paper, tying a little bit of pink ribbon around its neck to add some detail.

I decided to keep things relatively simple as the backing paper was quite busy so I used three of the co-ordinating flags that come in the paper pack in the to corner of my card. To complete, I added two rows of mint green Candi, black stitching detail around the flags and a "With Love" greeting tag.

Now here's my Cheryl card! I went for a similar layout as my dog card but used some purple and orange-yellow flowers that I cut using one of the Craftwork Cards stencils as a template, embellishing with purple Candi centers. For the background I tore the floral patterned paper from the Cheryl paper pad and inked the edges with purple ink before mounting onto dark purple card and then a 5 x 5" card black. I added small orange-yellow brads to the top and bottom corner and curled the edges to give a more distressed look.

To complete the card I added two of the co-ordinating flags and a gold and white die-cut message tag, also from Craftwork Cards. Hope you like them!

Personalised Thank You Card

Morning everyone! Hoping the weather is decidedly better wherever you are today, absolutely chucking it down here! I made this card last week for a friend of my mum who gave my sister and me gifts for Easter. I used a photo of the two of us as the focal point, as she hasn't seen us in a while, and took the dominant colours in the photo as the colour scheme for the card.

I mounted a peach dotted paper from a Craftwork Cards mixed stack onto some brown cardstock and then onto a 6 x 6" white card blank. Behind the photo I added some gold Mirri card and a brown frame that I die-cut using the smallest X-Cut Ornate Frame die. I also die-cut the "Thank You" greeting from some peach card and added it along the top and bottom of the card in brown banners, which I edged with clear glitter glue. To complete I made some layered flowers using the Glorious Gerbera dies and some brown brads, and added some smaller punched flowers with peach pearl gem centers.

Kraft Notes Birthday Card

First day back at uni today, oh how I hate getting up for 9am lectures first thing on a Monday morning! Anyway, I've realised that I'm a bit behind blog-wise so this is me finally getting caught up with things. This is a Forever Friends Kraft Notes card that I made using the docraft Creativity Club Sketch 269. I started by mounting up a square of the pink spotty paper onto some silver Mirri card and then onto a 5 x 5" square card.

I used on of the checkered papers from the Kraft Notes 12 x 12" pack which I cut into a circle and then layered over with strips of co-ordinating patterned papers from the range. The greetings tag is from the Kraft Notes Ultimate Die-Cut pack, which I mounted onto blue card and embellished with some blue gemstones. To complete, I added some pale blue Candi from Craftwork Cards and some clear glitter glue around the edges of the strips to add a bit of sparkle.

Two Gorjuss Birthday Cards

Finally off on holiday from uni, nice little two week break for Easter which means that I've had plenty of crafting time! Here's a couple of girly birthday cards that I made using the DoCraft Creativity Club Daily Sketches and the Gorjuss Ulimate Die Cut Pack. For the first one I combined one of the smaller Gorjuss images with the old Papermania Henbury Lane papers. My mum bought some coloured twine the other day and the purple and white one matched the colours in the papers perfectly!

I made layered flowers using the Gorjuss papers and the Glorious Gerbera dies, joining the layers together using some purple pearl gem brads. The greetings banner is from the Gorjuss pack, which I then stamped with the exclusive Creativity Club greetings stamps and embellished with pearl gems. To complete I added pearl gems to the image and some grey gemstones to the top and bottom corners. For my second card I used the beautiful teal coloured paper from the Gorjuss pack and one of the co-ordinating coloured images.

I cut a circle of floral patterned paper from the Gorjuss Neutrals pack and mounted this off-center behind the image. The flowers were made using the Petal Posy dies which I layered up and joined together with metallic blue brads. To complete I added a stamped greeting and some pale blue gemstones in the top corner.

Happy Days Birthday Card

Right, now that I've regained the feeling in my fingers (so damn cold outside today!) I guess I ought to show you one of my latest makes. I loved Creativity Club Sketch #261 and thought that it would work great with the Papermania Happy Days range and one of the Kraft card mannequins from Craftwork Cards.

I had to tweak the sketch a little bit to accommodate the mannequin but the diagonal strips of paper and the flags were elements from the sketch. All the papers I used were from the Happy Days range and I particularly love the floral patterned paper that I used on the dress as it ties in well with the colours in the background paper. I embellished the dress with small gemstones and a piece of red sating ribbon that I found in my stash. The greetings tag is from CWC and I mounted it onto the red zig-zag paper from the Happy Days range to tie in with the colour scheme. To finish I added some blue, red and yellow buttons from the Papermania Vintage Notes range (to tie in with the haberdashery theme!) and went round the edges of the flags and the dress with clear glitter glue to add some sparkle!

Anyone would think I liked this sketch...

I was flicking through some of the Docraft Creativity Club exclusive sketches and I found the one that I used for my mum's Mother's Day card...cue a burst of inspiration! For my first card I used the gorgeous DCWV All About Girls Stack...

I picked out colours from my chosen papers to use in the background, a vivid purple and a cream textured cardstock that I tore and then inked the edges in cyan. I decided to mount the papers onto silver Mirri card to give a border between them and break the patterns up a bit. The message tag is a die-cut one from Craftwork Cards that I double mounted and decorated with purple gems. The sketch has a flower element in the bottom corner so I made a wee flower using the Glorious Gerbera dies and a button from the Vintage Notes range that matched the colours in the papers. To finish I added a punched butterfly in cyan glitter card and some CWC Candi.

I used another of the DCWV stacks for my second card, the aptly named Safari Chic stack! The colours are great; combining browns with splashes of orange and green for a bit of contrast.

For this card I mounted the papers on gold Mirri card and used a pale green card in the background, inking the edges of the cream card with Chestnut ink this time. I used another of the CWC message tags, with gold text this time, and some of their green and gold spotty Candi. I kept the flower more simple this time, using plain brown and orange papers with another Vintage Notes button. To complete I added a punched green shimmer card butterfly and some pale green gems.

Kraft Notes Gift Box

Thankfully the snow's all melted now and the road out from my flat is no longer a health and safety hazard! I braved my way to lectures yesterday so that I could present my friend with a belated birthday present, a Bare Basics box that I decorated with the new FF Kraft Notes range.

The flowers were made using the Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms dies which I embellished with brads, pearls and buttons to add a bit of sparkle. The message at the center is a Craftwork Cards greeting mounted on some peach card to tie in with the checkered background and flowers. Sets of three blue gems added a final bit of bling to the top and I decorated the sides in co-ordinating coloured papers from the Kraft Notes range, mounted onto silver Mirri card. I love decorating these boxes because you can used them to put your gift in and then they can be used as a jewellery box or something of the like too!

Gorjuss Thank You Card

Brr it's cold outside today!!! I like snow as much as the next person but not when I've got to walk to a 9 o'clock lecture in it! Anyway, cosied up inside now with a cup of tea and thought I'd put up another of my makes from the weekend. I loved this little black and white sketch-style image in the Gorjuss Ultimate Die-Cut Pack and thought that I could work it in combination with the sketch challenge that I used for my Mother's Day card.

I stuck to a blue colour scheme, mounting a selection of the papers from the Gorjuss range on silver Mirri card to add a bit more of a contrast. I also used the striped paper to tie in with the ribbon in the top corner of the image and the self-adhesive lettering that I used to spell out the greeting. The flower was made in the same way as the one on the Mother's Day card, using the Glorious Gerbera dies and folding the ends of the petal behind. I added a scalloped circle in black and a cream button to the center to tie in with the black and cream in the image. To complete I added some cream and black spotty buttons and some blue pearl gems.

Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day! Here's the card that I made my amazing mum using the new Kraft Notes range that I got in my first batch of Docraft Designer goodies. I also used one of the sketch layouts that are exclusive to Docraft Creativity Club members and I thought would work really well with the co-ordinating papers in the Kraft Notes 6 x 6" pack. I chose a 6 x 6" card blank and layered up some silver Mirri card followed by the butterfly Kraft Notes paper.

Next I cut squares and rectangles of patterned paper in varying sizes and mounted them on silver Mirri card in a similar arrangement to the sketch, adding some stitching detail along the edge. The flower in the corner was made by die-cutting the largest and second largest flowers in the Glorious Gerbera pack and folding the petals over to give some dimension. To complete the flower I added a co-ordinating coloured button from the Vintage Notes range. The final touches were a message tag from Craftwork Cards, a punched butterfly in the button paper from the Kraft Notes range and some wee pink love heart buttons that I found in my mum's stash.

First Docrafts Designer makes...DONE!

This is it, my first month as a designer for the Docrafts team! I received so many wonderful goodies to play with from the new March ranges including the new Gorjuss character and papers, which are so versatile and easy to use! The projects will have to stay under wraps for the time being but I've had so much fun creating them. That's all for now, will have to leave you all in suspense!

Thank You Card

Well while I recover from playing badminton this afternoon I suppose I ought to update you on some of my crafting antics from last weekend. I found one of my old favorites hidden away under in one of the many boxes in our craft room, the Latte 8 x 8" Stack from DCWV. They are lovely thick, textured papers in brown, purple, green, and beige. I decided to make a thank you card using one of the plainer floral papers as a background, which I mounted onto green card before building other elements on top of it.

The self-adhesive letters were from the Papermania Birdsong range as I thought the muted beige colour tied in well with the green wavy paper. To complete I added some purple punched flowers, green and purple gemstones and some green Candi from Craftwork Cards. As anyone that follows me on docraft will know I made another card at the weekend but I forgot to transfer the photo to my laptop so that I could blog about it while I was at uni, silly me!

Kraft Cards for Guys and Girls

I made a couple of cards at the weekend using some 6 x 6" Kraft cards: one for a male friends 19th birthday and a feminine version using the Sweet Pea papers from Craftwork Cards. For the male card I stuck with a simple pale blue, white and brown colour scheme to tie in with the colours in the cute Wellington image that I chose from the Ultimate Die Cut Pack. I used a large brown button from the Boofle Buttons pack which I threaded with some garden twine to add a bit of texture. I also poked holes around the torn paper to give the card a shabby chic look, as well as inking the edges of the checkered paper with Chestnut ink. To complete I added a Craftwork Card message tag, brown brads and some pale brown spotted Candi.

For the female version of this card I used the gorgeous Sweet Pea papers from Craftwork Cards. Tearing and inking the background paper as before, I layered up the foreground with a stamped image from the Papermania Botanical Prints Urban Stamps set that I then mounted onto pink, purple and Kraft card. I added a lilac ribbon to the background to tie in with the colour scheme as well as two of the die cut flowers from the Sweet Pea paper pack, to which I added button centers. To complete I added a Craftwork Cards message tag, some pink and purple pearl gems and three pink Candi to the bottom corner.

Purple Birdcage Card

Well it's Friday again and I've just got one final physiology lab to survive this afternoon before I get to go home for another weekend of crafting. I made this card last weekend and didn't realise that I hadn't put it up on here, so let me rectify that now! I found these Kraft Card birdcages from Craftwork Cards in my mum's stash and decided to go with a purple and brown colour scheme for this 5 x 7" card. I double-mounted a sheet of the Craftwork Cards Bohemian paper onto purple card and then Kraft card to create a background and added some handmade purple paper behind the love heart in the birdcage to keep with the colour scheme. I also threaded through some purple velour ribbon and added some purple gems to give it a bit of extra sparkle!

I added another strip of lilac ribbon along the top of the card and some more purple gems in the bottom corner to tie all the elements together. The "With Love" message is stamped in Chestnut ink onto Kraft Card using the Craftwork Cards Printer Block letters, which I love! I like how it produced a really subtle, almost watermark look that doesn't overpower the rest of the card. I cut the letters out individually and mounted them onto the same purple card I used in the background so that they weren't lost against the birdcage. To finish, I added a little birdy with a purple gemstone for the eye and some of the little Craftwork Cards flowers with purple gem centers. Hope you like it!

Sunday 10 February 2013

Sweet Pea Floral Card

I discovered this pack of Sweet Pea paper from Craftwork Cards in my mum's stash of new goodies and though the colours were just gorgeous! I started this 5 x 5" card with a decorative circle piece of the paper and then layered it up with a strip of the zig-zag paper and a torn section of spotty paper mounted onto some pale pink card. I made the co-ordinating flowers using the remains of a sheet of the Bohemian die-cut flowers (also from Craftwork Cards) as a template to form various styles of flowers to layer up. The buttons at the centers are from the Spots and Stripes Capsule collection by Papermania.

The message tag is a die-cut one from Craftwork Cards which I mounted onto co-ordinating lilac cardstock and embellished with some pink pearl gems. As a final touch I added some pink and lilac punched butterflies with flight lines in a purple pen.

Tatty Ted Get Well Soon Card

Another of my friends had to go in for surgery last week and is finally back on her feet so I thought I'd cheer her up with a get well soon card and some lovely choccies. She loves the Tatty Ted bears so I used one of the images from the Ultimate Die Cut pack in combinations with some Craftwork Cards embossed cardstock from my mum's stash. I stuck with muted colours, choosing the lilac and blue that are in the flowers the teddy is holding. I re-shaped the embossed frame so that the center was a flower instead of the pre-cut square so that it tied in with the die-cut flower embellishments that I made.

To complete the card, I added some lilac gems and buttons to the center of the flowers as well as a Craftwork Cards sentiment mounted on some pale blue cardstock. Hope it cheers her up...if not I'm sure the choccies will do the trick!

For You Gift Box

After being subjected to three hours worth of biology lectures I thought I'd take a quick time out and update my blog before I hit the books again. When I was at home this weekend I made another gift box using some 8 x 8" Kraft Card and some of the die-cut flowers from Craftwork Cards. To begin with I made up the little flowers for the top, layering them up and adding gold brads at the center of the two smaller flowers. I chose a sheet of the blue, beige and teal Sweet Pea paper to go behind the flowers as I wanted to introduce some colour to the box. I stuck a small square of the paper on some gold Mirri card before mounting onto the box and decorating with the flowers and a teal-inked message tag.

For the sides of the box I used another of the papers from the Sweet Pea range and cut rectangles of different colours which I then mounted onto gold Mirri card to tie in with the top of the box. To complete I added gold gems to the corners of the sides to add a bit of final sparkle. I love how simple these flowers are to use and they look fantastic on loads of different projects.

Well that's all from me for now, hope you like the box!

Wednesday 23 January 2013

Blue Birdhouse Card

I was flicking through some of my mum's new Craftwork Cards goodies over the weekend and discovered a set of die cut images that included this cute wee birdhouse. Feeling a bit inspired, I chose to make a 5 x 5" card using the birdhouse in combination with a Kraft card bird which I decorated with blue glitter pen.

I decided to stick with a blue, beige and brown colour scheme and so I used a couple of the blue flowers from Craftwork Cards which I cut out and creased to give a little bit of dimension. To the centers I added silver brads to give some sparkle, as well as some silver gems to the flowers on the birdhouse. In the background I used a paper that tied in with the detail on the birdhouse mounted on some co-ordinating blue card. To complete I added a greeting banner made of Kraft card with one of the Craftwork Cards message tags and some more silver gems to the top left corner.

Katy's Challenge: 15th - 22nd January

I entered Katy's Challenge again that ran from last Tuesday to yesterday. It was a sketch challenge this time: a circular image with a wiggly background and a title message. Here's my card based on it...

I used one of the circular images from the Wellington Ultimate Die-Cut pack, which I mounted onto a rust coloured paper from the Wellington pack and then onto gold Mirri card. I created the background using four of the papers from the Wellington 6 x 6" paper pack that I cut to match the sketch before mounting onto gold Mirri card. One of my friends turned 19 on the 20th January so I added a little 19 tag at the top of the card in blue and gold. To complete I used pale blue letters to add the word "friends" and some navy blue spotty Candi.

Monday 21 January 2013

Floral Gift Box

I actually made this gift box about two weeks ago now and then promptly got caught up in exam revision and forgot to upload the pics! Well here it goes anyway, this is a basic rectangular box that I decided to decorate using one of the fab Craftwork Cards Goody Bags. I started by making up each of the flowers using different combinations of the pre-cut flowers in the pack. I used a variety of embellishments at the center as you can see: the top left has a metallic blue brad at the center, the bottom right has a pink polka-dot button and the others have varying colours of glittery gems. Once assembled I glitzed all the flowers with some Spray and Sparkle to give them a nice finish before setting them aside while I covered the box.

For the lid of the box I kept it simple by mounting a sheet of the co-ordinating blue paper onto some silver Mirri card. Round the rim of the lid I used green and pink paper with white writing mounted onto silver Mirri card with contrasting coloured brads. On the sides I used white spotty paper and inked the edges to match the sides of the lid before mounting on silver Mirri card. To finish I added a message banner and the flowers to the lid and...TA DA, there you have it!

Floral Birthday Cards

Well back to university for the new semester now so I thought I ought to take a quick break from exam revision and get the old blog up to speed with my latest creations of the holidays. I've take a liking to the Craftwork Cards flowers that you can use individually or layer up to create a bit of dimension. This was my first card using some of the more brightly coloured flowers which I combined with a Doodlebug checkered paper that I found that was in the same colour scheme. I the tore a sheet of orange Coredinations card and used this behind the flowers to give a more shabby chic look and also break up the background a bit. To complete I stuck on the flowers at varying heights to give a bit of dimension, added a blue ribbon and Craftwork Cards message banner mounted on blue card.

For my second attempt I used flowers from one of the Goody Bags that came with co-ordinating coloured paper. I love the little spiral flowers that you can roll up to give dimension so I mounted one of these onto two of the five petaled flowers and added a metallic pink brad at the center. I also used two of the smaller flowers to which I added glitter gems at the center. In the background I used a sheet of blue paper from the Goody Bag and a square of torn pink Coredinations card embossed with a leafy embossing folder. To finish I added a strip of paper from another of the papers in the Goody Bag with white text on it, a white message tag and some pale blue pearl gems.

For my final card I bent two of the large flowers to give them a bit of dimension before layering them up and stitching a chocolate brown button into the center with pink thread. I used another two of the smaller flowers either side with glittery gems in the center. This time I used a sheet of the white Coredinations card which I embossed with a floral design embossing folder and then inked lightly with cerise pink ink. The background paper was the same as I took a strip from for the previous card as the colours tied in with those in the flowers. To complete I added a silver spotty message banner with a birthday greeting and some dark blue pearl gems.

Well that's it for this post, back to the joys of physiology revision...

Male Vintage Car Card

Afternoon all! I actually finished this card last night but have only just got around to photographing it...so here it is, another attempt at making a more masculine birthday card. I found the car print paper in the 12 x 12" Papermania Happy Days pack and remembered that there was a set of stamps that came out a while back that were different styles of vintage cars. The nearest I could find to one of the ones on the paper was the Porsche 911, which I stamped in a similar shade of orange ink to the background. I then tore and crumpled the image before inking with chestnut ink to give it an aged look. I mounted the image onto Kraft card with antique-looking brads before mounting this onto orange card.

To complete I added self-adhesive chocolate brown lettering in the word "vintage", three gold glitter strips and some brown and gold Craftwork Cards Candi.

Sunday 6 January 2013

New Creativity Magazine just arrived!

I have to admit, when my mum first pulled the Chronology papers out of the Goody Bag for this month I was a little bit hesitant. The designs are nice but they seem to be printed in a really dark black that makes it difficult to find elements to go with them. When the new magazine came in with the set of Chronology stamps through I thought it was worth giving them a try. Here's what I came up with...

I liked the vivid orange of this backing paper so I stuck with an orange, white and black colour scheme for the card. I tore the edges of the Chronology paper before mounting it onto plain black card and then onto a white 5 x 7" card blank. In the foreground, I added a torn piece of the black card complete with a white organza ribbon and orange message banner with black self-adhesive letters and brads. I stamped the large image from the stamp set in black ink before trimming to size and inking the edges with a co-ordinating orange ink. I was aiming for a more masculine card so I avoided flowers and instead chose some black button embellishments with orange and white thread through them to complete the card.

Embossed Bottle Tops Card

Another New Year bargain that my mum and I found was the Happy Days Tri-Boss Embossing folder. I used this along the edge of a torn square of red Coredinations card, to which I then added varying-sized rectangles of Happy Days paper. I found an odd piece of yellow ribbon that matched the colours in the bottle tops paper that I cunningly used to cover up the mark that the edge of the embossing folder made in the card.

The message banner is a simple piece of pale blue card that I decorated with green stitching and then added one of the Craftwork Card sentiments to the circle. To finish, I added three lime green Candi and some lime green gemstones in the corners of the papers.

Happy Days Card

Well Happy New Year everyone, lets hope 2013 is good to you! Me and my mum raided our local Dobbies yesterday as it seems that they are getting rid of their craft section :( On the plus side it meant that they were selling off a load of their stock half price so I finally convinced my mum to buy the big 12 x 12" Happy Days paper pack. For this card I cut small sections of five of the different papers in varying sizes and layered them up in a tile-like arrangement down the right hand side of a 5 x 5" card.

I decorated another of the Craftwork Cards mannequins with an embossed sheet of white card, which I inked lightly with red ink to tie in with the colours in the papers. The message banner is just a plain sheet of red card with one of the Craftwork Cards birthday sentiment tags on it. For a final bit of detail I added red stitching, a checkered bow to the center of the dress and some red gems around the neckline and in the corners of two of the smaller sections of paper.
